Unlike a manual toothbrush, the Philips Sonicare Essence 5300 uses powerful Sonic technology to clean teeth with up to 31,000 movements per minute. These sweeping motions drive fluids deep into the tight spaces between your teeth and along your gum line, resulting in a cleaner, healthier mouth.
With a unique angled neck and contoured bristles that correspond to the natural shape of your teeth, the Sonicare Essence 5300 delivers a thorough, comfortable brushing experience. The angled neck provides optimum reach for the bristles, which have extra-soft rounded ends that gently massage your gums and go deep between teeth to remove plaque.
The Essence 5300 makes it easy to care for your oral health. You need to apply only light pressure when using this toothbrush--the Essence 5300 will do the brushing for you. For further convenience, the Sonicare Essence 5300 features an Easy-start option that gently increases the toothbrush's power over the first 12 uses, so you can gradually adjust to the Sonic technology.
The Essence 5300 also features a Smartimer to keep you on track. The Smartimer encourages you to brush for a full two minutes, the time recommended by dental professionals. If you wish to pause or stop brushing during the two-minute cycle, just press the power button. If you press the power button again within 30 seconds, the Smartimer will pick up where you left off.
After a full 24-hour charge, the Essence 5300 will provide approximately two weeks of typical use (two minutes of brushing, twice a day). A convenient recharge indicator on the brush displays the available battery life and blinks when you need to recharge.
Because the Essence 5300 can last two weeks between charges, you can leave its charger at home for most of your travels. A travel case and hygienic travel cap are included for further on-the-go convenience.

This streamlined packaging approach means less waste, and it also means your parcel will be easy to open without the use of a box cutter or knife.

Nice Product, By

I have researched the Sonicare toothbrushes and found the best value to be this new model, I am very happy with it. I read all the reviews for the other models,held them in my hand at the Department store and found the only difference between this and the higher priced models is in the style of the handle and the fancy lights showing the remaining battery life. Also the Elite models have the beep every 30 seconds during the 2 minute timer. This model has all the features I need: Easy reach brush(Uses same replacement heads as the Elite models),2-minute timer. Since these things only last a couple of years anway, what's the sense of spending another $30 or more for features you don't need to clean your teeth. Buy this toothbrush and use the money you saved to buy replacement heads.

The Sonicare Essence is my second Sonicare toothbrush. Previously, I used an Advance, which lasted about four and a half years. Prior to that, I had a different brand of electric brush. Some observations follow.
In general, any Sonicare would be a wise investment for you. No question, years of using it have saved me time and money at the dentist. By now you've seen from the other reviews how effective it is at cleaning your teeth. As I get older, I'm finding just how effective a job it also does at slowing my gum recession. I consider the sonic system superior over other brand's rotating mechanical approaches, which seemed to have more of an unpleasant taste and couldn't be used with just any brand or style of toothpaste, unlike the Sonicare. The Essence and Elite models use the more slender heads versus the Advance. Slender is more comfortable as you maneuver the head around your mouth. Do yourself a favor and buy the Sonicare Flex Care. The newer Flex Care models are an upgrade without the screw-on design flaw of this Sonicare model. This model has a hideous design where the saliva and other brushing liquids seep down into the inner mechanisms of the hand piece and pool up in a really disgusting way and requires you to take it apart and clean off inner crevices made up of metal and plastic parts. The new design eliminates all that slew of slime. This brushing action is fantastic, just like the new one, but this design stinks...literally.
